The German Section is proud to announce two recent successes of our students. Second year students Jacob Aylmer, Vera Ryan and Max Passberger were winners of the annual Unternehmen Deutsch competition of the Goethe Institut on 30 April with their excellent product idea of a Lindt “Schoko-Kirschblütenbaum”. Huge congratulations to them and their mentor Associate Professor Michaela Schrage-Frueh and the other colleagues in German teaching them. Teams from the University of Galway and TU Dublin also got into the final. And fourth year students Joshua Fortune, Johanna Gnann, Meadhbh Hodnett and Mark Ryan got second prize at the CIGS Irish-German Studies video competition with their video on “Der Einfluss der deutschen Technokultur auf das irische Nachtleben”. First prize went to students from the University of Galway and the third prize to the team from Maynooth University. Again, congratulations to the students and all their lecturers!
