Last week, attendees from across the University had the privilege of attending the inaugural lecture of our Head of Department, Professor J.J. Leahy. 

Titled "My Journey to Biocircularity from the Old Bog Road", Professor Leahy gave an insightful overview of some of his favourite research projects from the last 30+ years. This included turning peat extract into tarmac, waste cooking oils into biofuels, willow into topical skincare products and the disposal and reusage of chicken waste on farms.
