The Arts Council has partnered with the Digital Media & Art Research Centre (DMARC) (UL), the Centre for Creative Technologies (UCG) and the Department of Digital Humanities (UCC) to run a pilot Digital Artist in Residence Programme. The pilot has been established as part of the Arts Council’s Digital Arts Policy. It focuses on providing a stimulating environment for the resident Digital Artists and affording them a degree of financial support to concentrate on their own digital arts practice.

Commenting on the pilot Associate Professor Jurgen Simpson said: “This is a key step for the Arts Council in their building investment in new areas that explore engagement between science/technology and the arts. Their recent inaugural Digital Arts strategy was driven in part by activities of our own alumni, and the CSIS Department is widely considered to be a key centre actively involved in growing this area nationally through collaboration, teaching and research.”

"UL’s CSIS Department was one of the first academic locations to place an emphasis on the connection between computing and culture, and we are delighted to see this pilot partnership emerge."
