TRUST is our new institution-wide approach to student feedback.

As part of the 51社区鈥檚 ongoing commitment to enhancing teaching and learning, the MSS (Module Satisfaction Survey) is being replaced by TRUST-EM (Time to Reflect and Understand Students - Evaluation of Modules). These evaluations are aligned with UL's Action for Wisdom strategy and the recommendations of the CINNTE institutional review. 

Key Information:

  • Administered by: Quality Support Unit
  • Distributed via: , which is integrated with UL鈥檚 VLE, 
  • Survey Timing: Week 10 of each semester
  • Registration: Automatic for eligible taught modules
  • Participation: Mandatory for in-scope Sem 1/Sem 2 modules (excluding Co-Op, teaching practice, placement, projects, thesis/dissertation etc.) 

Purpose and Timing of Survey:

  • Allow students to give meaningful feedback on their learning experience within individual modules.
  • Enable lecturers to reflect on and respond to student feedback.
  • Support a transparent and open feedback loop.
  • Conducted at the end of each semester.

Accessing the Surveys

There are a number of ways to access the surveys when open:

  • All student surveys can be accessed via the ; faculty via the 
  • You will receive a personalised email from TRUST-EM@ul.ie to your UL email account, with links to all your surveys.
  • Survey widgets will appear on the home page of your university virtual learning environment (VLE),  (pictured below)

Closing the Loop

  • Instructors can respond to student feedback.
  • Closing the loop is essential to show students their voices are heard and valued.
  • Providing reflections after the survey builds trust, drives engagement and supports continuous improvement.
  • For more information, UL's Centre for Transformational Learning (CTL) have resources for teaching staff on student feedback data.

Reporting & Publication

  • Access to survey reports will be provided via .
  • Access to aggregate reports will be determined by role (Course Directors, Heads of School/Department, Faculty Deans and senior university management).
  • An institutional summary will be published on the QSU website.
