Congratulations to Dr Tina Morin (School of English, Irish and Communication), who was recently awarded the prestigious for her monograph The Gothic Novel in Ireland, c. 1760-1829. The prize is named in honour of a founding member of the American Conference for Irish Studies, which held its in Boston, 20-23 March 2019.In awarding the Rhodes prize to Morin, the prize committee cited her book as 'a masterful study' that makes 'a serious intervention [into] the field of Irish Studies, not only because of its important and corrective re-focusing but also because of its recuperative work that repositions a vast number of texts hitherto written out of the literary canon'.Dr Morin joins an illustrious list of past recipients, including Edna Longley, Sinead Mooney, and Declan Kiberd.
